FX Auto (FXDD Auto) from Tradency – As of Monday, August 13 we closed two atr channel trades – the net result was a lose but I’ve had a good string of wins. Didn’t I tell you I had a reason to back it down to .1 lots

Hi Minnelli,
I was running some performance numbers and picked 5 systems that, with a starting balance of $2500 trading .2 lots would have made me buckets of money in just the past 3 months. Is this too much exposure for long term?

Many different ideas on this . Check your leverage amount – mine is like 66:1 right now, which I know FX245 would say is too high But, it’s just no the leverage number, I sell manually because as I’ve said before, too much exposure in one direction. So if I have 6 .1 lots all long GBP – I don’t get that warm fuzzy feeling. Hope my ramblings help.

Sorry for the silly question, but I’m new to FX Auto as of yesterday and I don’t see anywhere to adjust the leverage amount…

Can you explain the Risk Adjustment # column? Is a higher number rated as more risk or less?

I was looking at trading 0.1 lots on ATRChannel GBPUSD, GFS-Zenden GBPJPY, and SniperFX AUDUSD with a $2500 initial balance, and it shows a 3 month increase in equity to $7200 which more than exceeds my dreams, but on the other hand if you look at most of the programs for this week alone they all differ only in how much they lost…

I would advise you go look at the current open positions for some of these and also look at there worst trades results. I won’t trade FxSniper because it has had a bunch of big losses and I find that unacceptable. Go check out the other pairs of a strategy you want to trade and see how it does in bad trades. If it’s more than 100 pips I don’t even trade them.

On the leverage – the higher the more risk and I would say your portfolio would have a HUGE risk, not just because of the leverage because of the strategies you have selected. Just be careful.

Do you think .2 with just ATR would be a more survivable long term level of risk? Looking at the comparisons at FX Auto it seemed like GFS or Sniper had similar dd levels as ATR, with much higher winning percentages.

That’s what sucked me in on other stuff – high win pcts usually mean they let their losers run. Look at The Profit Club – they were awesome but had two big bad trades in a row and I had to dump them. The EA I have been using (Steinitz) only grabbed small wins but let my losers run into an 80% DD.

To get a good look at current performance. Open up build a portfolio and look at the “Show Open Position Status” – you will see a few that are in big DD that you would never think. Afterall, there past performance doesn’t show the big loses – well that’s because many hold onto them until they come back and then show a great win percentage.

I’ll take 40% winners with a nice profit factor…

I guess I could answer the .2 lots question – sorry. I would start small and get a feel for the .1 build the account up to say $3000 before adding lots. But I do see ATR gets in a pattern – after a couple good wins it usually has a loss, but don’t bet the farm on that observation.

Thanks, that’s very helpful. It’s a lot of data to consider and it’s challenging to weigh everything against all the factors. I’ll take your advice, my account should be funded within a week…

I bought Steinitz also and even had a VPS server set up for it. I’ll set up another demo account when the new version comes out, but right now it looks like a real dog compared to what’s available on FXAuto.
